HOW TO SINGLE CROCHET STITCH

This should be quite simplistic after learning how to do the basics well. There is a video listed below to help if you are struggling.

  1. Make a slip knot.

  2. Chain as many loops as you want. (To learn I chained 20)

  3. When ready, slip stitch into the second loop next to your crochet hook.

  4. Move onto the next loop, the chain on the left side of where you just slip stitched.

  5. Repeat step 3 until you can no longer slip stitch into anything.

  6. Chain 1.

  7. Flip your work.

  8. Insert your hook and slip stitch into the horizontal stitch next to where you just chained 1. When you insert your hook into the loop it should actually look like there are 4 little loops on the hook, because one loop is actually two pieces of wool. It should look like this every time you slip stitch into a line of stitches when you are single crocheting.

  9. Move onto the next loop, moving to the chain on the left side of where you just slip stitched.

  10.  Repeat step 8 until you can no longer slip stitch into anything.

  11.  Repeat from step 6 until you are content with the size of your single crochet product!
